Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:Implements Inspection programmes and performs Inspections on Refinery Staticc Assets as assigned. Assesses the condition of fields? equipment and facilities using up to date methods & techniques of non-destructive examination as required by the referencing codes. Maintains up to date inspection records, coordinates with other Department personnel, organize and follows-up inspection activities. Involves in the planning, scheduling and execution of inspection jobs, and foresees inspection requirements.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:Job Specific Accountabilities? Implement and sustain consistent Inspection Strategy for Refinery Process Unit Static Equipment as assigned.? Follows and implements inspection plan & schedule for all assets in assigned Refinery Process Units based on historical data / Risk Based Inspection (RBI) study as applicable and provide required Reports and recommendations.? Supports and acts as Technical resource for all technical aspects for Statis assets in the assigned Refinery Process Units, for ensuring integrity and support Operations and Maintenance functions with required Technical Support.? Act as focal point for coordination with all related Inspection and Corrosion function for smooth delivery of Inspection and Corrosion services in assigned Refinery Process Units.? Provides appropriate testing / inspection techniques, and reports inspection observations, abnormalities and recommendations attached with relevant documents like check lists, detail assembly drawings, sketches, etc., indicating specific defects to the concerned Departments / Teams.? Coordinates and participates in RCA, Material analysis, hardness testing, coating thickness check etc, during fabrication, maintenance and overhaul, modification works as well as during new installation of parts, piping, and equipment. In case of discrepancy, ensures all inspections are properly performed prior to reporting any issues.Generic AccountabilitiesSupervision? Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area of PTOD, to meet functional objectives.? Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives.Budgets? Provide input for preparation of the Department/ Section budgets and assist in the implementation of the approved Budget and work plans to deliver Section objectives.? Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures? Implement approved Department / Section policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the Department / Section?s work programs in line with Company and International standards.? Comply with all applicable legislation and legal regulations.Performance Management? Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the Department / Section in line with the Company Performance framework.Innovation and Continuous Improvement? Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.? Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with ISO standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability? Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of PracticesReports? Provide inputs to prepare Section MIS and progress reports for Company ManagementCOMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:Internal? Assigned Supervisor to provide information and reports, and receive directions.? Concerned personnel in technical services, major projects, procurement, contracts, etc. normally at Section Leader Level, to share information and coordinate work.External? Consultants and specialised research centres during project work and failure investigations.QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:Minimum Qualification? Bachelor Degree in Metallurgical or Mechanical Engineering or other equivalent disciplines.Minimum Experience & Knowledge? 9 years of experience of inspection functions in petroleum refineries, chemical process plants, or petrochemical plants.? Experience in FCC, Platformers, ARDS or Cokers is added advantageSkills? Good command on MS Office and Computer skills.Inspection Engineer? Fully conversant with relevant API, ASTM, ASME & TEMA standards / codes.? Very good knowledge of oral & written English. Knowledge of Arabic is added advantageJob PurposeProvides expertise and assumes full responsibility for areas related to Inspection Activities in the company. Reviews the performance of the equipment and piping and makes recommendations for upgradation as required.Job Specific Accountabilities (Part 1)? Monitors the mechanical performance of the equipment during daily operation, test runs and prepares the reports as required to ensure equipment are operated within design limits.? Ensures all cathodic protection and other corrosion control systems functionality and upkeep. Updates/prepares the records and inspection files for the plant and equipment.? Reviews the operating conditions to assess and monitor corrosive conditions and evaluates the material performance in process streams.? Reviews the metallurgy for the modifications and major projects. Updates procedures and specifications related to Inspection Management and Inspection activities and recommends repairs/operating parameters to extend the life of equipment and piping.? Carries out corrosion study, failure analysis and failure investigations in order to enhance safety and integrity of the plant and storage tanks.? Updates & prepares the records and Inspection files for the plant equipment and storage tanks.? Carries out and supervises inspection of process plant equipment, Tanks, piping safety relief valves, lifting equipment.? Reviews the inspection observations and analyses the same after turnaround and on-stream inspections and makes necessary recommendations to ensure plant integrity and safe operation. Inspects material.? Carries out and arranges failure analysis, RCA and failure investigation and prepares reports for the failure of equipment components, paint coatings, refractory and insulation works, making necessary recommendations for corrective actions.
