Job Description

An experienced Museum Registrar for Art Collections/ Art Registrar/Collection Curator to join the Art Department of prestigious Abu Dhabi based company. Responsible for compiling and maintaining records, data, digital solutions and presentations of every Art Collection/ Work that is received and dispatched from the Art department. Inspect and examine the condition each item of art work received from galleries, museums, artists, borrowers, internal properties etc. to ensure that it is received in good conditioTo compile and maintain records of every Art Collection/ Work that is received and dispatched from the Art Storage facility (as well as kept in the properties) in order to have the location, conditions, intrinsic and extrinsic data as well as images of each work known at all times in a data base. Other Duties Include: ? Prepare condition reports for all works received at the Art Store (returned and new works). Additionally, to catalogue each work within the collection and prepare catalogs and lists so that the Client can view as per each specific request (I.E. by Genre, Artist, colour, theme etc.). ? Organize transportations and installations as per client?s requests. Handle the loan process with national and international institutions. ? Take high resolution photos of each of them and edit them using Photo Editing Software of art work and organize the images in the Photo Archive for easy reference based on the Clients request. ? Research and compile relevant information / details for each item of art work to effectively determine all intrinsic and extrinsic data of the art work. ? Provide Art Department Manager with consistently updated catalogue of works held within Art Storage Warehouse as well as individual properties or on loans as they are inventoried. Catalogues are to be available at all times with the ability to be sorted as per the Client/Art Department Manager specifications using the current Access Based Database. ? Provide confirmation, in addition to the Art Technician, that art works are being safely handle and stored correctly during transportation to or from specified properties. ? Control and maintain Inventory logs within the Database, for each work within the collection so tracking reports can be provided to the Art Department Manager as requested. Assists in tracking each work whenever it is moved from the storage facility to specific property. ? Maintain and update files with relevant documentations such as delivery notes, etc. Reviews inventory inaccuracies and assists with the development and implementation of appropriate solutions on a quarterly basis. Prepares weekly updates, generate periodic reports that detail the images, artist, medium, dimensions, gallery and acquisition date where available and status updates for submission to Line Manager. ? Performs annual inventory by conducting physical counts; reconciling variances; updating locations in the Art Store; inputting data, etc. ? Identify and report discrepancies, concerns, issues, complaints related to storage, crating, information received from galleries regarding works and environment to Line Manager / Supervisor for appropriate intervention. ? Organize art transportations to and from the Art Store and properties within the company and with external art transportation companies, including requesting gate passes and preparing transportation lists and Art Store Requisition Forms. ? Handle the loan process (receive requests, prepare and adjust the loan agreement, examine the requested artworks and prepare detailed condition reports, prepare loan recommendation and facility report after site visit (local loan requests), organize transportation, and communicate with representatives of the borrowing institution as well as with the PA?s of the Client.
