Job Description

To oversee and manage the Client?s Art (including paintings, sculptures, objects, textiles, photographs, ceramics, ornamental glass, works on paper, digital media, installations, memorabilia and books, and any other) collection to ensure that it is well preserved during display / storage and transportation, secure at all times while building relationships and working with the Client to improve the collection.Principal AccountabilitiesClient Relations????????? Engages Clients with their existing collections by providing accurate information related to the collection type and value.????????? Provides the Clients with existing collections reports and analysis.????????? Advises Clients with potential acquisitions strategy.Logistics and Art Handling????????? Negotiating prices with art shipping companies.????????? Supervises shipping and crating, trucking, and art handling by 3rd party staff.????????? Supervises installation and reinstallation of artworks.????????? Responsible for shipping arrangements for domestic and international loans.?????????? Sources courier service to ensure seamless delivery of important and valuable works.?????????? Determines requirements for transport, care and storage of the work.Conservation????????? Identifies third party consultants needed to care for objects (such as conservators etc.)????????? Establishes?conservation priorities; determines the most efficient ways to use available resources to protect the collection from damage.????????? Supervises conservation projects.????????? Performs collection inspection; identifies?improper storage to?prevent damage.????????? Advises Clients regarding conservation methods to be undertaken which would fall outside the standard internal running costs projected.??Storage,?Archives and Organization????????? Implements and improves storage units to ensure that art pieces are protected against environment elements such as mold and fading.????????? Supervises art storage units and maintenance.????????? Creates archives for art important documents such as historical documents and ephemera.?????????? Facilitates access to inventory by clients or 3rd parties.?Inventories, Databases and Catalogs????????? Develops, implements and manages policies and procedures for art Inventory Management.????????? Determines appropriate?art database system and catalog requirements?for?each individual client.?????????? Responsible for implementation,?maintenance and backup of art databases and catalogs.????????? Responsible for comprehensive inventories, organization?and tracking of object locations.?????????? Creates comprehensive art database reports for Clients, insurance and legal purposes.?????????? Creates and maintains photographic records.Insurance????????? Proposes insurance policy selection for private collections, performs evaluation of collection facilities and procedures to ensure?all standards are met to maintain validity of insurance policies.????????? Arranges insurance for domestic and international loans,?related paperwork, correspondence, and?condition reports.????????? Responsible for creation of comprehensive data reports for insurance purposes.Loans????????? Responsible for vetting and evaluation of potential loans and?loan agreements, execution of comprehensive condition reports and loan related photography.?????????? Advises client whether loaning work is advisable.????????? Responsible for shipping and crating arrangements.?????????? Performs evaluation of facility reports issued by 3rd parties.?????????? Ensures art works are fully covered by insurance while on loan.?????????? Negotiates terms of loans that ensure safety of the work and is consistent with client wishes.????????? Monitors all loans to ensure compliance with loan agreements.?
