Job Description

Job Title: Al Maqtaa Museum Unit HeadReports to: Abu Dhabi Culture Sites Director.Location: Abu Dhabi.Role PurposeLead the management of Al Maqtaa Museum through effective planning and implementation of public engagement programmes and visitor experiences, aiding to promote the site as a key historic site in Abu Dhabi. The Unit Head role ensures continuous protection and promotion of the site in line with best practices and in line with the overall Culture Sector and CSM strategies.Key ResponsibilitiesCulture Site Strategies & PositioningContribute to the establishment and execution of strategic plans of Al Maqtaa Museum in line with the overall Culture Sector and CSM strategy and targets.Lead developing Al Maqtaa Museum positioning and target audiences, aiding to promote the site as a key historic site in Abu Dhabi.Exhibitions, Programming & OutreachLead the planning and development of exhibitions and public engagement programmes to target audiences, increasing awareness on the history and story of Al Maqtaa Museum.Ensure alignment of programmes and exhibitions content with the narrative of the site, while supervising the delivery of all programmes in line with defined timelines and objectives.Liaise with the relevant teams from the Culture Sector to manage and build collection building initiatives and interpretations ensuring that the acquisition program is mission specific and museum content is accurate and effective.Liaise with the relevant teams from the Culture Sector to ensure that the works presented for acquisition is in line with Al Maqtaa Museum project.Operational Support & Visitor ServicesEnsure efficient operational and facilities management at Al Maqtaa Museum, in collaboration with relevant CSM operations teams, contributing toward achieving a positive and fulfilled visitor experiences.Supervise defining plans to maximize visitors satisfaction and engagement through the development and implementation of world-class visitor experiences, ensuring sites tours and experiences effectively embed the history and the story of the site.Supervise all efforts to increase engagement with the community and target audiences through effective marketing and communications initiatives in close collaboration with relevant DCT marketing teams, contributing to promote Abu Dhabi historic sites locally and internationally.Foster relationships with strategic stakeholders from the sector locally and globally in order to build effective collaborations and partnerships.Reporting & BudgetsEnsure all programmes and initiatives are delivered in line with the allocated budgets.Review reports on Al Maqtaa Museum progress, initiatives and achievements as per required specifications and timelines.Shared ActivityStrategic ContributionEnsure effective cascading of the functional strategy into section business plans to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal integration with other interfacing sectional strategies.People ManagementManage the effective achievement of assigned objectives through the leadership of the Section by setting individual objectives, managing performance, developing and motivating staff to maximize performance.Lead the creative initiatives for the assigned section, collaborating with technical/discipline experts and thereby ensure the availability of talent to fit business requirements.Act as a role model and drive adherence to organizational values and ethics by employees of the assigned section to foster a value driven culture within the organization.Budgeting and Financial PlanningManage the preparation and recommend the section budget and monitor financial performance versus the budget while ensuring all sectional activities are conducted in line with the approved guidelines.Policies, Systems, Processes & ProceduresManage and ensure effective implementation of functional policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of assigned section activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.Continuous ImprovementLead the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability of systems, processes and practices considering global standards, productivity improvement and cost reduction.ReportingEnsure that all section reports are prepared timely and accurately and meet DCT requirements, policies and quality standards.QualificationsBachelors (Masters preferred) in Culture, Arts, Museum Studies, Business Administration, or any other decree within relevant industry.Experience5 to 7 years of experience in museums, culture / historic sites management, or any other relevant experience within similar fields. Proven ability to advocate and represent the activities and interests of museum / culture sites at the highest level with stakeholders, media, public institutions, governments and other organizations. Preferably, someone with excellent knowledge and experience in programmes development and public engagement.SkillsFull professional English proficiency both in speaking and writingArabic bilingual desirable but not mandatorySkilled in MS Office (PowerPoint, Word and Excel)High level of competency in relevant software applicationsSelf-motivated with a proven ability to complete work in a timely mannerAbility to quickly integrate with existing business software tools and knowledge of other relevant industry softwareExcellent written and verbal communication skills - including appropriate stakeholder alignmentEvidence of creating, implementing, and managing policies and proceduresAbility to multi-task and to prioritize work effectivelyExtensive knowledge and understanding of programmes development.
