Position/Employment type:Regional Director, Nigeria/ Permanent full time employeeOrganization/Reporting line:GardaWorld Security Middle East and Africa / Reporting to the President and COOPlace of work/Travel:Dubai, UAE and Nigeria. This role requires frequent travel into Nigeria, with approximately 20 days to be spent in-country per month, as well as globally to GardaWorld management offices, and other locations where the company has operations or where clients may be located (role specific).Contact and Cooperation:Internally: Nigeria CMT and Operations Support, Response, CST, Finance, GardaWorld Federal Services, HR and GW Senior Leadership Team members.Externally: Chairman and Director GardaWorld Nigeria, clients, local government authorities, local relationship and service providers.Job Outline:The Regional Director, Nigeria will be responsible for the provision of leadership across 36 states of Nigeria, a highly challenging security environment, through an insightful and detailed understanding of existing and potential market sectors in line with GardaWorld?s competitive business strategy. Reporting to the President and COO, this role will provide senior level guidance and stakeholder management across the following key areas of responsibility:

  • Deliver GardaWorld operations across Nigeria
  • Financial management of multi-million-dollar project delivery, including leading on the Nigerian P&L, budget forecasting and tracking, and oversight of the Nigerian business pipeline
  • Responsible for ensuring all GardaWorld operations across Nigeria are conducted to the highest standards of integrity and ethics, in compliance with all applicable laws and customer requirements and for ensuring that the Quality Policy and Business Management System is understood, implemented, and maintained at all levels of the organization
  • As a priority, manage and grow the conventional guarding business, minimizing costs through labor efficiency, cost-effective procurement of uniforms and support services as required
  • Instill a culture of aggressive commercial growth and strict discipline of cost control across the region
  • Develop and grow new and existing commercial relationships with government authorities and market participants within the business community focusing on clients within the diplomatic, oil & gas, telecom, finance, maritime, renewable energy, power, development and infrastructure sectors, with a focus on sales
  • Provide and advise on commercial information to the CST for bid purposes
  • Drive market-specific guidelines within the sector
  • Develop and implement market specific operating guidelines
  • Travel for approximately 50% of time
Competencies:
  • Ability to convert initial client contact into proposal, and service delivery in Nigeria
  • Ability to manage and motive a large team of expatriate and local national staff
  • Demonstrates integrity and upholds ethics and values
  • The ability to plan, implement and maintain multimillion USD projects
  • Ability to plan and run a large guarding/alarm response business efficiently while in compliance with the company?s labour laws
  • Understanding of guard rostering systems and their interaction with ERP systems in country
  • Deep understanding of the relationship between guard contract management with the rostering system and then payroll and billing
  • Knowledge of operational and technical physical security issues in West Africa
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to convey complex messages across a wide-ranging audience
  • Ability to produce complex conceptual written proposals/documentation (aimed at new business)
  • Must have the ability to cost and present financial details in order to manage budget
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft office and IT in order to present and accurately maintain internal and external reporting requirements

Accountability:The Regional Director, Nigeria is accountable to the President and COO for their responsibilities stated in this job description. These responsibilities will be monitored and managed through the mid-year and annual performance review and supported through the monitoring of their KPIs.Authority:As per GardaWorld Authority Matrix and as directed and delegated by the President and COO.Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years? operational experience in Africa (Nigeria desirable) at a senior level gained within a corporate environment
  • 5-10 years? military experience, all, or part of which must have involved significant management responsibility
  • Experience with managing principles of close protection across a wide variety of teams and locations
  • Experience of running a large conventional multiple guard force efficiently i.e. optimized number of guards operating at optimal cost and costs billed to customer on time and cash collected in accordance with contract terms
