Job Description

Atkins, an award winning and innovative multi-disciplinary engineering consulting firm, has an opening for a three-month Sustainability Internship in our Dubai office starting Monday, 24 October 2022 and completing Tuesday, 24 January 2023.Atkins works closely with architects, urban planners and owners from around the world on large, complex projects with a focus on sustainability performance of the built environment.About the Job:As our intern, you will function as part of the urban planning and sustainability team and utilise analytical, computer and communications skills to assist in developing appropriate solutions for our projects.Your role will include:

  • Assisting the Sustainability delivery team with advising clients on green building design and technologies to manage carbon, energy, water, and waste.
  • Supporting technical analyses such as high-level waste calculations and planning, carbon footprint calculations and sustainability certification studies to support/prove project ideas.
  • Writing and editing reports and facilitating/presenting LEED, Estidama and Mostadam or sustainability frameworks to clients, design teams, and contractors.
Responsibilities:
  • Execute research tasks in areas related to sustainability.
  • Seek, organise and generate data.
  • Support in preparing project deliverables and proposals related to Atkins ongoing projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of building rating systems (LEED or Estidama experience is necessary).
  • MS Office Suite skills.
  • Adobe Creative Suite skills.
  • Experience with IES modelling software is preferred.
Your Profile:
  • One previous internship experience is an advantage but not mandatory.
  • Currently graduated within one year from an accredited education institution in Sustainability, Sustainability Building Science, Architectural Engineering or related disciplines.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA (latest semester).
  • Independent and pro-active attitude, diligent and reliable.
  • Experience in conducting research tasks and creating reports.
  • Located in Abu Dhabi or Dubai, UAE throughout the duration of Internship and have own sponsorship.
