Assistant Principal - Pastoral - Middle and Senior School - Al Mamoura Academy- AY2022/2023 - (220000AE)DescriptionAldar Education are currently seeking an outstanding Assistant Principal - Pastoral for Middle and Senior School for Al Mamoura Academy in Abu Dhabi commencing next academic year 2022-2023.Al Mamoura Academy is a British curriculum, mixed gender primary school and a girl?s only secondary school located in a state of the art building in the heart of Abu Dhabi. This vision is supported by the Al Mamoura Learner and Teacher DNA which is at the heart of the school community.This is an exciting opportunity to join the highly successful Aldar family of schools and to help shape the future of Abu Dhabi?s leading school group.The successful candidates will be closely aligned with our core values and ethos and possess a genuine understanding and appreciation of the values of the region.RESPONSIBILITIES:The role is focused on the pastoral welfare of students in the Middle and Senior School, ensuring that they are offered opportunities and growth above and beyond traditional curriculum provision.General Responsibilities

  • To be an active member of the school?s Executive Leadership Team and other staff teams as appropriate
  • To contribute to the development of policy and planning for the Academy and to monitor the implementation of relevant policies
  • To lead on the school USP of sustainability, ensuring that our Green Kitemark status is maintained and sustainability in the Al Mamoura community is continually developed
  • To assist the CEO/Middle and Senior School Principal in shaping the direction of the Academy and setting high expectations at all times
  • To promote teamwork and motivate staff to ensure effective working relations
  • To liaise with senior colleagues at Aldar Education to support the strategic development of the Academy
  • To deputise in the absence of the Middle and Senior School Principal
  • To take on the important responsibility of Safeguarding Lead for Middle and Senior School
  • To co-lead the Al Mamoura parent group
  • To lead on and develop pastoral policies and procedures across the school.
  • To undertake any additional responsibilities as delegated by the Middle and Senior School Principal.
Strategic Direction and Development of the Middle and Senior School
  • To lead and manage the Director of Welfare and Industry to ensure the delivery of pastoral and welfare support to students that exceeds the expectations of students, parents, agents and other stakeholders
  • To liaise with the Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Assessment, Director of Achievement and teachers to monitor students? academic performance and ensure that all Pastoral Directors do the same
  • To promote relationships within and outside the Academy to enhance the #ourmamoura community
  • To support teams with writing the SEF and SDP
  • Pastoral MER and quality assurance
  • Quality assuring events including celebrations, Enterprise Week, the Career?s Fair and Work Experience
  • Quality assurance of Parent & Teacher Conferences and Open Evenings
  • To develop and present an accurate and coherent account of the Academy?s performance to a range of audiences including governors and parents
  • To recruit and select high calibre teaching and support staff
  • To be a main point of contact and act as host for student and other external visits and to ensure that all visitors are provided with a welcoming reception, comprehensive tour of the building and key information relating to the school?s programmes and services
  • To promote the well-being of staff and students through a holistic approach to well-being
  • To effectively lead the school through external review and inspection.
Learning and Teaching
  • To ensure high expectations for all staff in relation to pastoral support and welfare of students
  • To promote high expectations for all students? achievement and progress
  • To raise achievement by improving attendance through positive attitudes by students towards attendance
  • To be responsible for the behaviour of all students and will strive to ensure that staff, students and parents understand the school?s expectations, and adhere to them
  • To actively assess and monitor the impact of student care across the college, making constant improvements based on feedback
  • As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will participate in regular walkarounds and drop-ins as well as the formal observation cycle to ensure high standards across the school
  • To quality assure the student leadership programme and ensure that opportunities are offered to meet the needs of all students
  • Induction sessions for new staff.
Managing Resources
  • Monitoring and analysing CPOMS referrals to ensure the welfare of students
  • CATS/Admission and Transfers for new students
  • To lead on the school sustainability programme and commit to advancing this area of our vision further
