Job Description

Supporting the Most Exciting and Meaningful Missions in the WorldAircraft Mechanic IIIProvide aircraft Maintenance Support, Management, and Leadership for T-6C aircraftResponsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Interface with operational customer to develop flying schedules and plan major maintenance events, completes daily and monthly operational reports, documents inventory usage, controls workflow.
  • Work with other A&P Mechanics and technical representatives to trouble shoot, diagnose and solve unusual and complex maintenance problems.
  • Manage aircraft maintenance safety programs and serves as a member on the Safety Committee.
  • Ability to apply logic and good judgment, understand technical order diagrams and procedures, use test equipment for analysis of airframe, engine, flight control, pneudraulic, fuel, electrical/electronic systems, problems.
  • Plan and schedule aircraft utilization and maintenance activity and coordinates performance with operational customer.
  • Maintain accurate parts inventory.
  • Assign maintenance and repair tasks and monitors/evaluates their completion.
  • Supervises and performs aircraft jacking, lifting, and towing operations.
  • Inspects aircraft structures, systems, components, and related systems.
  • Supervises and performs aircraft and component inspections.
  • Interprets inspection findings and determines adequacy of corrective actions.
  • Perform and sign off aircraft safe for flight inspections.
  • Perform launch, recovery, scheduled and unscheduled inspections/maintenance.
  • Preflight/thru flight/BPO inspections, ground handling, minor maintenance, and servicing.
  • Perform routine troubleshooting, installation, repair and maintenance of all electro-mechanical systems and components on the aircraft at the organizational level of maintenance.
  • Services aircraft. Performs end-of-runway, post-flight, preflight, thru-flight, and phase inspections.
  • Troubleshoots and maintains aircraft structures, systems, components, and related equipment.
  • Removes and installs aircraft components.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Experience providing OJT to technicians.
  • Reviews maintenance forms, aircraft records, automated maintenance data systems, and historical reports to ensure complete documentation.
  • Removes/installs canopies, ejection seats, performs periodic maintenance of all cockpit egress and life support systems of moderate difficulty, such as seats, canopies, CADs, heating/cooling systems, utilizing hand tools.
  • Inspects and operates powered and nonpowered aerospace ground equipment.
  • Performs Quality Verification Inspections (QVI) as needed
  • Perform and sign off aircraft safe for flight inspections.

Preferences:
  • ?Previous Aircraft Maintenance Expeditor experience.
  • ????Air Force 7/9 level Craftsman/Superintendent OR Navy/Marine Corps Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI).
  • IMDS/CAMS or related Maintenance Management System experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must have current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant License (A&P).
  • Minimum of eight (8) years working knowledge of aircraft maintenance operations on one or more of the T-6 Texan or similar Fixed-Wing aircraft is required.
  • ?Must have Aircraft Maintenance and Egress experience.
  • Must have a broad working knowledge of aircraft maintenance, inspection techniques, FAA regulations, and Air Force technical publications.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability combined with attention to detail.
  • Must have knowledge of the scope and limitation of various categories of maintenance and their application.
  • Must know theory and principles of engine operations; accessories and components; theory of flight; rigging of flight controls; electrical and electronic; pneudraulic; and mechanical principles.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal, properties of materials, fuels, and oils. Ability to read, interpret and use manufacturers and aircraft maintenance manuals, service bulletins, blueprints, wiring/schematic diagrams, data tables and other specifications to determine feasibility and method to repair or replace malfunctioning or damaged components.
  • Must have a working knowledge of aircraft safety requirements and know how to operate portable firefighting equipment.
  • Must be familiar with Maintenance Information System (MIS) to retrieve and input information.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
