Job Description

úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿResponsible for safe and effective pharmaceutical service for inpatient, I.V. Admixture and Outpatients, and all staff involved with direct patient care and patient needs with established policies and procedures including forecasting supplies and equipment, and adequate and safe storage of medications.úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿResponsible in exercising due care in the dispensation of pharmaceuticals; ensures that all standards set by the hospital, Saudi Arabian Government and JCIA are met.Major Duties and ResponsibilitiesúÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿEnsures through his actions, either directly or indirectly, that a superior quality of medical treatment, compassion and understanding is given to every patient served at the NMC Hospitals and Clinics.úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿEnsures prompts and accurate delivery of medications to patients.úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿEnsures that Physician?s Orders and patient medication profiles are reviewed, processed and checked properly.úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿEnsures that drug information is provided to health care professional and patients to assist in providing rational drug therapy.úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿEnsures that orientation to new staff is carried out.úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿEnsures that prescriptions are appropriate and accurately filled with detailed instructions by interpreting each prescription before filing to ascertain if strength and dosage prescribed is within patient tolerance.úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿEnsures that patient profile is reviewed to check for Drug vs. Drug Interaction, Drug vs. Patient Allergies and Drug vs. Patient Diet restrictions and dosage suitable.úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿEnsures that daily preparations of medicines for inpatients are carried out based on the unit dose system.úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿEnsures that the doses for I.V. Admixtures, TPN and Compounding Cytotoxic drugs are properly calculated according to the written policy and procedures.úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿEnsures of computerized charging, verification and modification of inpatient medication for specific patients.úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿEnsures that current and accurate drug information to health care professionals is provided.úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿEnsures that confidentiality and security of patient information is maintained as per hospital policy and professional pharmacy standards.úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿEnsures that monthly controlled drug requirements and stock level are well estimated; controls and initiates storehouse orders for all appropriate areas.úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿEnsures to participate in the inpatient counseling and training in Pharmacy Students.úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿEnsure to assist in updating the Hospital Formulary.úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿEnsures an accurate and proper storage of any new delivered medicines.úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿEnsures that the process of computerization is observed, including drug dispensing, inventory, Drug vs. Drug interaction, Allergies, Refills and validity of prescriptions.úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿEnsures that periodic spot-check for all controlled and narcotic drugs are performed according to the MOH to guarantee inventory correctness.úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿEnsures that the operating manuals for the Pharmacy unit are reviewed every two (2) years.úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿEnsures to participate in the continuing education, to keep abreast of new pharmaceuticals, equipment techniques and antidote information.úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿEnsures that current listing of physicians and dentists? signature specimens (badge number), abbreviations and clerical symbols recommending and implementing approved changes are kept and filed.úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿEnsures that infection control procedures are implemented and maintained.úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿEnsures to comply with the hospital dress code.úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿResponsible to educate patients /families as per their needs and to implement their whole role regarding patient / family education process as mention in patient & family education policy and procedure (NSP-GEN-014) including documentation in patient medical record.úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿThey are knowledgeable about their essential role in patient and family education.úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿInvolves the patient/families in plan of care and respects patients/families regarding their goals and choices of patient care.úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿProvides health promotion and health teaching thru methods appropriate to a patients? developmental level, learning needs, readiness and ability to learn, language preference, culture and situations.úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿAllots time necessary to assess, plan implement and evaluate patient education provided to patients/families with appropriate documentation.úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿPerforms other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of the employee?s knowledge, skills and abilities.úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿPerforms additional tasks and duties as assigned by Superiors.Reporting toúÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿHead of Pharmacy and Pharmacy SupervisorsSupervises

Qualifications:A minimum of:ÿÿÿÿEducation:oÿÿRequired ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿB.S. Pharmacy Graduate.ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿLicensed Pharmacist, according to laws and regulations;Experience:A minimum of:úÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿTwo (2) years experience as a Pharmacist in a Pharmacy of a large acute care hospital;
