Job Description

Our client is a capital market company, looking to hire a talented Linux & Unix Administrator to join their team in Doha, Qatar.Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in computer science, information technology, information science, telecommunications, or any other related field.
• Expertise in Red Hat Satellite Server installation, Red Hat Linux Kickstart, System Imager, SUSE Autoyast, and Jumpstart in Solaris.
• At least 10 years of similar experience in Linux.
• Expert level in Linux, Unix, and Oracle
• A Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) Certification and Oracle Certification Program(OCP) are a plus.

• Administrating servers in heterogeneous environments. Which include, Installing, Configuring, and Upgrading Red Hat Linux/Unix and Solaris operating systems.
• Expertise in Red Hat Satellite Server installation, Red Hat Linux Kickstart, System Imager, SUSE Autoyast, and Jumpstart in Solaris.
• Maintaining /Administrating the current storage environments (SAN, NAS, DAS, etc) as well as making recommendations for optimal solutions to support business initiatives.
• Experience in volume management.
• Creating new file systems, mounting file systems, and unmounting file systems, Hands-on experience in a Storage Manager environment.
• Experience in writing Shell scripts using ksh, bash, perl, for process automation of databases, applications, backup, and scheduling.
• Expert in setting up SSH, SCP, SFTP connectivity between Linux/Unix and Solaris hosts.
• Monitor system performance using sar, prof, vmstat, iostat, netstat, svmon, filemon, and netpmon.
• Troubleshooting and analysis of hardware and software failures for various Linux/Unix and Solaris servers (core dump and log file analysis).
• Coordinate with developers and database administrators to deploy and monitor HA environment applications utilizing Cluster Services.
• Liaise with the DBA team for Oracle/Sybase database installation, restoration, performance issues, network-related issues on Linux/Unix and Solaris Servers, and with vendors for hardware-related issues.
• Coordinate with the web team in installation, configuration and troubleshooting issues with WebSphere Application Server on Linux/Unix and Solaris.
• Configure Winbind on all Linux/Unix systems which enable all the Linux/Unix users to be authenticated on Microsoft Windows Active Directory Server.
• Proficient with user account maintenance, backup & recovery, Auto mounting, License Management, and Printer configuration.
• Work with RedHat Linux tools like RPM to install packages and patches for the RedHat Linux server and Vir-Install, and Vir-manager to install and manage the Virtualized OS.
• Troubleshoot various problems in different environments such as development, QA, Staging, and Production by analyzing log files.
• Oversee system performance and report generation
• Replacing and upgrading defective or outdated components when necessary.
• Documenting any processes that employees need to follow in order to successfully work within our computing system.
• Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure
• Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies.
