Job Description

In this role, you will safely operate an empty handler to discharge and load all empty containers to the storage locations and empty container yard to ensure efficient, safe, and smooth operations.Job responsibilities (not limited to):

  • Operate equipment safely and efficiently and according to instructions in order to discharge and load all empty containers from internal and external means of transportation to the storage locations and/or the empty container yard.
  • Ensure safe movement, placing containers, and position of staff of the terminal during operations to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Identify the line, signs, and measurements of empty containers, observe stowage rules and maintain handling types as per the SWL of the equipment.
  • Park equipment according to the instructions in the assigned yard and assure that it is in the secured mode to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Carry out all pre-operational checks on the equipment before starting the shift to ensure that it is operating properly.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
  • At least 1-year experience as an Empty Handler Operator with previous experience in the port industry.
  • Good technical and operational knowledge of container terminal operations.
  • Excellent communications skills and proficiency in English language.
  • Have a good understanding of Qatar and GCC culture and working environment.
