Senior Assistant, Pathology and Laboratory MedicineEntity: Medical CollegeIntroductionThe Aga Khan University was found in 1983 as Pakistan?s first private university, Aga Khan University is a not-for-profit institution and an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network. Starting in 2000, the University expanded to Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, United Kingdom and Afghanistan. AKU began life as a health-sciences university.The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Aga Khan University is a unique/distinguish establishment which serves the clinical laboratory of Aga Khan University Hospital with academic interest. This department is heavily engaged in undergraduate, postgraduate and technologist training programs. It provides professional training for higher degree in four major areas of Pathology (Chemical Pathology, Hematology, Histopathology, and Microbiology). Currently, there are approximately 61 Faculty, including 3 part time, 2 visiting faculty members, and 41 Residents.ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible for:

  • type correspondence, medical reports, teaching, research papers and other material for assigned areas
  • address queries from patients, visitors and students and referring them to contact person from where they can obtain further information
  • prepare meeting schedules, make appointments, and maintain calendar for section head and faculty of the assigned areas
  • prepare timetable, handouts, examination papers, results, student evaluations, sectional reports and sectional OPPE forms
  • proper filling and maintenance of physical and electronic records.
  • distribute incoming and outgoing calls
  • order, issue and maintain records of stationery and supplies for assigned areas as well as to ensure proper maintenance of office equipment
  • liaise with Finance, IT, Security, dispatch, maintenance, Human Resource for day-to-day official matters
  • assist residency Director/ Coordinator for the sectional residency related matters.
  • make logistical aarrangements for meeting and take o Make travel arrangements for assigned faculty and staffs.
  • any Other tasks assigned by Section head/ managers.
RequirementsYou should have:
  • Graduate degree, Masters will be preferred.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • good interpersonal skills
  • proficient in use of Computer packages e.g., MS Office
  • ability to meet tight deadlines
  • fluency in written and spoken English.
