Legal Affairs ManagerApplications are invited for the position of?Legal Affairs ManagerPosition within: Legal DepartmentLocation: Dubai international Airport, Terminal 1Category: General VacanciesKey AccountabilitiesThe role of the Emirates Flight Catering legal department is to help its business divisions, and joint venture companies, manage risk through the drafting and negotiation of contracts, provision of advice on regulatory and other legal issues, coordination of responses to regulatory investigations, provision of company secretarial and compliance services and the management of legal claims and litigation. The incumbent will provide legal advice and support with a principal focus on Emirates Flight Catering joint venture companies and on variety legal affairs matters to ensure the delivery of strategic outcomes, major responsibilities will include:??

  • Work with, manage and negotiate effectively the use of outside counsel as necessary in order to optimise value.
  • ?Identify and analyse risk areas from a legal perspective; provide counter clauses to ensure that the company?s interest is protected and the best commercial and legal positions are maintained.
  • Work closely with the leadership team and provide effective legal inputs on various strategic initiatives and policy development proposals.
  • Keep abreast of all legal and regulatory changes that may affect the business across all areas, suggest amendments to internal policies and amend contracts to reflect those changes.
  • Review and recommend counter clauses in contracts and agreements related to operational activities as well as those related to corporate activities.
  • Initiate legal actions and issue legal notices to protect the company?s interest.
  • Review and recommend corrective actions on issues raised by departments to support their legal requests.
  • Respond to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and Standards of Conduct by evaluating or recommending the initiation of investigative procedures.
  • Act as an independent review and evaluation body to ensure that compliance issues/concerns within the organization are being appropriately evaluated, investigated and resolved.
  • Advise on contracts conflicts and interpretations, compliance, corporate transactions, and IP matters as needed.
  • Provide accurate and on-time advice and support to business divisions and internal departments including but not limited to -
  • Labor and policy-related advice to Human resources;
  • Contractual and commercial advice to the airline, lounge, off-airport and events teams;
  • Contractual support to the Procurement team;
  • Establish a system for storing and accessing Group Legal precedents, advice and template agreements;
  • Draft and review commercial contracts /agreements with vendors and transactional documentation for enhancements to existing products and business initiatives including licensing agreements etc.
  • Plan and oversee the legal activities involved in the preparation, processing, review, maintenance and distribution of legal records, documents, reports and correspondence.
  • Interpret laws and regulations pertaining to legal document processing
  • Consult with attorneys and representatives or personnel from Federal law enforcement agencies concerning legal document processing.
  • Provide day to day legal advice and support on the rules and regulations pertaining to UAE labor law, sponsorship, promotion and events, reviewing complex and varied local laws and implications and drafting, preparing and negotiating related documents and agreements.
  • Appear at various internal forums for imparting legal awareness training and advising on legal issues and highlight procedural deficiencies.
  • Educate the business teams and individuals involved in negotiating complex commercial deals such that they are equipped with the necessary knowledge, and subsequently working with them as the agreements are drafted, revised and completed.
  • Responsible for balancing conflicting business demands, producing high quality, practical and commercially-oriented legal advice.
  • Where required, managing allocated outsourced work and communicating effectively to ensure clients are fully informed of progress towards the resolution of problems and the completion of their projects. Ensure that complex or high level matters are completed correctly and referred to the AVP Legal Affairs & Company Secretary as appropriate.
  • Ensure that professional knowledge is sufficiently maintained and applied by monitoring and reviewing legal publications and changes in legislation, ensuring that any such changes are shared within the team.
  • As required, provide support and guidance to the AVP Legal Affairs & Company Secretary.
