Job Description

Reuters is seeking a political, general, and economic Desk editor with excellent editing and translating skills and strong news judgement to join the Arabic Service in Cairo. The successful candidate will be able to work fast, under pressure, without compromising on accuracy.To be our Desk Editor, you will:

  • Translate and edit all kinds of stories.
  • Ensure that the file is accurate, versified and based on the actual needs of our clients with focus on regional stories and stories of interest in other parts of the world.
  • Work under pressure in a very fast-paced environment.
  • Ensure all content meets our ethical guidelines and free from bias.
  • Have a sharp eye on regional events.
To be our Desk Editor, you will likely have:
  • Excellent command of Arabic and English languages.
  • Broad experience in political, general, and economic news.
  • Agility and ability to embrace change.
  • Sharp news judgment and an ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Solid knowledge of major events in the region.
  • Ambition and quick thinking.
  • Appetite for learning different skills and adapting to new tools and modern technology.
  • At least five years? experience in a similar position.
