Job Description

Financial Markets International, Inc. (FMI), the Implementing Partner for the USAID Business Growth Activity, is now seeking an SMEs Business Manager for the Activity.The USAID Business Growth Activity will enable Jordan?s small and medium enterprises to improve their productivity and competitiveness, create new jobs and innovations within a range of sectors, and advance Jordan towards a more prosperous, resilient, and inclusive future. Through a series of evidence-based interventions, the Business Growth Activity will support these enterprises with direct firm-level assistance and broad-based capacity building programs to mobilize millions in capital, and address constraints through advocacy and public-private dialogue that complements USAID?s policy reform initiatives. The activity strives to allow growth-oriented small and medium enterprises to reach new markets and buyers, increase collaboration along value chains, and improve efficiency and quality to meet demand. The activity will empower these enterprises to access tailored and competitively priced debt, equity, and new hybrid financial products to operate within a more responsive business environment better informed by public-private dialogue and advocacy. This will allow small and medium enterprises to engage women, youth, and persons with disabilities, and increase sales, exports, and broad-based job creationFINANCIAL TRANSACTION UNIT: Responsible for investment facilitation, enhancing SMEs? bankability, investment worthiness, ability to communicate their respective equity growth stories to capital providers, and working with capital providers to improve awareness of the critical contributions of SMEs financing to their performance, thus ramping up funding for their SMEs as an important stakeholder group.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The Financial Partnership Manager will be responsible for facilitating Startups and SME?s access to finance under the Financial Transaction Unit, through working with SMEs in finding the best financing and investment opportunities and building and maintaining solid relationships with Banks, Venture Capitals, Investors, Donors, and other financial service providers.?Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Manage and Coordinate the Relationship with Capital Providers:
  • Work closely with the FTU director to develop a tailored approach for?outreach (deal flow), provision of technical assistance, and assistance in obtaining capital.
  • Facilitate and/or provide SMEs and Startups with technical guidance on access to capital-related issues and work with stakeholders to identify gaps and devise solutions for finance options that are accessible, appropriate, and affordable.
  • Serve as the BGA liaison with different access to capital providers (loan, equity, and hybrid)
  • Establish and maintain professional relations with capital providers to incentivize their capital mobilization to SMEs.
  • Work with the FTU director to develop financial products and services appropriate to SMEs.
  • Support access to finance for youth, women, and people with disabilities within BGA?s eligibility criteria.
  • Work closely with the BGA competitiveness unit to provide financial, technical assistance to SMEs and startups in need.
  • Work closely with the monitoring and evaluation unit to ensure timely data collection of assisted SMEs.
  • Work closely with the Communications Specialist on awareness-raising events and content related to financial education, access to finance, and messaging approaches.
  • Coordinate, build, and manage relations with SMEs support programs.
2. Coordinate Relationship with BGA Subcontractors and Consultants
  • Manage relationships with BGA?s subcontractors and consultants under the FTU.
  • Develop relevant terms of reference or scope of works for the subcontractors and the consultants.
  • Ensure that the subcontractors and the consultants are compliant with BGA and USAID requirements.
  • Ensure the deliverables quality and timeliness, including technical reports, services, and regular reports.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently and gather necessary data from different stakeholders,
  • Conduct limited research as needed
  • Prepare high-quality reports, presentations, and executive summaries.
  • Assist in achieving program objectives in areas of capacity building and mobilizing finance to SMEs,
  • Follow up on pending issues and deliver assignments on time, and
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the unit director or the chief of party.
OUTCOMES:
  • Support SMEs to become more bankable and investment-worthy
  • Close equity and hybrid investment deals
  • Reach underserved SMEs and Start-Ups, especially outside of Amman
  • Develop new products for SMEs financing
