Job Description

The ?Employment in Jordan (EJ2030) ? Project?in Jordan is seeking for a ?Communication/PR and Knowledge Management Officer? - on a full-time base employment as per the below job profile.Starting date: 1.04.2021Job profile A.????Required qualifications, competences and experienceQualifications:

  • University degree in relevant field of work (Communications, Public Relations, Policy Development, International Relations, Journalism)
  • A minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience of working in the field of communication (media and PR work, journalism, internal communication) preferably in international context
  • Fluency in writing, reading and speaking in English and Arabic, knowledge of German language will be an advantage
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a confident journalistic style that is suited to the target group
Professional experience:
  • Proven track record in communications (press relations and PR, journalism, internal communications, lobbying etc.)
  • Editorial experience/experience in writing articles and press releases
  • Experience in maintaining contacts to journalists, good contacts to (local/regional) media,
  • Experience of project and/or event management
  • Experience of production of publications and materials
  • Previous experience with knowledge management (in the context of development cooperation) will be an advantage
B.????Responsibilities The position holder is responsible for: Supporting the Employment in Jordan 2030 project and the overall Employment Cluster in effective and efficient communications/PR and knowledge management.This includes:
  • Professional development and implementation of communication and PR strategies for the EJ2030 project and Employment Cluster
  • Production of professional communication and PR materials incl. editing and redaction of material
  • Support PR and communication related to events
  • Performing general photo and video documentation of activities
  • Supporting both the EJ 2030 project and Employment Cluster and the counterparts on key elements of document management and knowledge management
  • Gender focal point for the EJ2030 project and Employment Cluster
In this context, the position holder fulfils the following tasks:C.??????Tasks
  1. Develop and implement communication strategies
The position holder is responsible for:
  • Supporting the EJ2030 project team and Employment Cluster in developing and implementing effective internal and external communications and PR strategies, including communication guidelines for projects? partners (if and when needed and) and incl. defining target groups, drafting key messages,..
  • Using appropriate outlets for communications and PR (social media, print, online press, etc.)
  • Establishing and maintaining contacts with the national media as well as relevant staff at projects? political and key partners
  • Monitors and captures publications / press coverage on the projects? activities
  • Acts as focal contact point for communication for the EJ2030 project and Employment Cluster towards GIZ Country Office
  • Organises informational sessions for the EJ2030 project staff and Employment Cluster on use of new or improved communication tools and/or forms
  1. Developing communication materials
The position holder:
  • Produces and professionalises PR and communication materials such as factsheets, flyers, press releases, regular newsletters (internal and external) for both the EJ2030 project and Employment Cluster
  • Assists in regularly developing visual materials for communication and PR (incl. photo and video)
  • Builds photo and video databases of the EJ2030 project and Employment Cluster and secures continuous updates and easy accessibility / usage of databases for project and Cluster staff
  • Supports the technical advisors in publication planning and design
  • Manages the necessary coordination processes to produce publications and materials in accordance with GIZ and donors? standards (e.g. visibility requirements, corporate design, standards for content)
  • Manages external sources for design and print if appropriate, and in cooperation with the teams and respective procurement officer
  • Assists in updating project and cluster websites and/or pages on social media
  • Documents continuously all communication/PR material on GIZ document management system including production and regular update of overviews on available communication material
