Job Description

SynopsisThe Design Engineer (Structures and/or interiors), who reports to the Engineering Manager, is part of the DOA (EASA/GCAA P21J) and he/she develops STCs, Modifications, Technical solutions, Engineering Data and issues controlled Engineering Documents for aircraft modifications/repair in compliance with the companys procedures. Structures and interiors Engineer will be contacted when a fault or damage is observed on an aircraft or component and the corrective action is not readily available. He/She will liaise with the TC/STC holder for a resolution or may provide a solution under the privileges of part 145 or under the authority of part 21J. Note: The role might require to work outside normal office hours on agreed roster. The role functions in an operational environment where access to the aircraft is required.Accountabilities

  • Accountable to provide clear, effective, concise and technically accurate solutions (trouble shooting, major/minor repairs, modifications and concessions) for defects arising from maintenance .
  • Develop technical solutions by utilizing published data such as IPC, SRM, AMM, CMM, SBs, EM, Production Drawings, Standards and other applicable manuals/maintenance data. Analyze defect reports to establish root cause.
  • Ensure that the technical solutions (repairs/deviations) are developed in accordance with the organizations procedures and are in compliance to the applicable regulation privileges of Part 145 or scope of Part 21J DOA. Submit a comprehensive defect report with a repair/deviation proposal to the manufacturer in order to obtain approval in a timely manner.
  • Produce the substantiation data, means of compliance to the certification specifications, Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, laboratory test in accordance with the organizations procedures and in compliance to the applicable regulation EASA/GCAA/ FAA .
  • Create the change/modification design solutions and the applicable certification package based on a known work scope, where he/she actively develop the Design Engineering documents per the EASA/GCAA/ FAA rules and regulations in-line with the companys procedures. He/She will deliver complete and correct Modification Bulletins, Engineering Drawings, Bill of Materials and Certification Documents on time and in line with the agreed work scope.
  • Thorough experience and familiar in creating certification documents, test Plans and compliance reports, etc.
  • Interface with all internal and external stakeholders to implement the required Engineering design/Changes in a timely and cost-effective manner:
  • Internally: CAD designers, Engineers, Project Manager, Quality, Airworthiness, Procurement, Logistics, Production, etc.
  • Externally: communicates with Customers representatives, BFE vendors, System or Service providers, Production Organizations, Manufacturer representatives and MRO Production.
  • Ensure timely release of Engineering Instructions and Drawings, Manual Supplements and Instructions for Continued Airworthiness for preparations of aircraft return to service after modification. Resolve any Design Engineering issues arising before or during the layover.
  • Technical knowledge of industry standard drafting CAD software, and CATIA v5 and/or equivalent.
  • Maintain an efficient engineering process that focuses on improving reliability and maintenance turnaround time by maximum utilization of DOA capability and OEM support.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in the field of Aeronautical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an Engineer in an EASA/GCAA Part 145/21J organization (equivalent FAA experience is acceptable) or TC holder or at a DOA/POA with similar scope to EYEng.
  • Strong background and skills in aircraft repairs, modification, retrofit development, trouble shooting and AOG support. Strong negotiation and presentation skills, planning and budget management experience, strong interpersonal skills and social competence, team player, self-starter, creative and innovative, decisive and firm, analytical and modeling intelligence, business intelligence and high willingness to take over responsibility is required.
  • Language skills: English fluently in speaking and writing.
